SUMMIT B.T.I. BRIQUETS
Insecticide

For over 25 years, fast-acting Summit B.t.i. Briquets have been the industry standard in extended release B.t.i. formulations for control of mosquitoes in the larvae stage. Few products match their record of reliable and environmentally compliant performance. Now Summit B.t.i. Briquets are available through AMVAC as part of its balanced product line which includes the adulticides; Dibrom® Concentrate and Trumpet® EC. The Briquet was the first sustained release Bti product developed in the professional market. The product  is a small circular cork matrix which floats on standing water. As the Briquet slowly dissolves, it releases a bacterium which is toxic to all species of mosquito larvae. The active ingredient in Summit B.t.i. Briquets is Bacillus thuringiensis subspecies israelensis (B.t.i.). B.t.i. is a bacterium that is deadly to mosquito larvae but harmless to other living things. The bacterium is a common soil borne substance which is very specific to mosquito larvae. Non beneficial aquatic insects, fish and other aquatic life are not harmed by the active ingredient B.t.i. Summit B.t.i. Briquets are used any place water collects and allows mosquitoes to breed and remain for periods of time. After female mosquitoes lay their eggs in or near standing water treated with a Summit Bti Briquet, the larvae that hatch feed on the B.t.i. The B.t.i. will kill the mosquito larvae before they can develop into adults capable of spreading dieases.
